OUR STORY

On November 1, 1996, Greg and Gail Sinkovic opened The Cakery, a little pastry shop located in the rear stores of Hilltop Plaza, Bowie, Maryland. the concept was simple and "old fashioned" - fine, scratch baking in a small personalized setting.

You'll find Gail, a native of Bowie, at the front counter as Bakery Manager. She graduated from Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration and worked at some of the best hotels in Washington, D.C.

Greg is the Pastry Chef with a wide range of culinary experience in fine dining restaurants, hotels, and caterers. His pastry training was completed at L'Academie de Cuisine in Maryland where his most valuable experience was his instructor - a former White House Pastry Chef.

Strong support from the local community and favorable reviews have helped the Cakery progress to ten years of operation. As it was once quoted... "Picking a favorite is difficult, but you will enjoy the search!"... The Washington Post
